My wife arrived home as I was hooking up the RV to go to Sleepy Hollow State Park. It is located near Lansing, Michigan. She told me that she had heard on the radio a severe storm had been reported for the park we were headed for. I called the park and was informed that the storm had passed through the area, but the power was still on. On the way down we encountered closed roads and lots of fallen trees. Later we found out several tornados had touched down in the area.
We arrived to find plenty of available sites. Most of them are quite secluded. It looked as if the sites were individually carved out of the forest one at a time. If you are looking for privacy, then this is the place for you. All the campsites have paved pads. You will, however, need an extension cord to reach most of the electrical posts.
The following morning we went down to the ranger’s station to pickup some brochures. The ranger told us of some young people that arrived the night before. He told them that under aged drinking would not be allowed. Sure enough, several MIP’s and 2 campsites were evicted that night. I have noticed that tolerance levels for this type of thing vary throughout this state. I would not advise pushing your luck in this park.
