This park is located at the tip of Michigan’s Lower Peninsula. It is on the Lake Michigan shoreline, just west of the Mackinac Bridge. Wilderness State Park is often confused with Porcupine Mountains Wilderness State Park located in the Upper Peninsula.
The park is divided into both modern and rustic sections. The rustic section is located on the shore of Lake Michigan. These sites are on the small side and tend to be somewhat unlevel, but the view compensates for this. I would recommend the sites located directly on the beach if your unit will fit.
The modern section is not located directly on the water. The sites in this section are larger and more level than the rustic section. Some of these sites also have concrete pads.
We stayed here in the fall in a beach front site. We enjoyed it very much. I would imagine that it would be pretty crowded in the summer months.

We found that our escape hatch window in the bedroom leaks. It looks to be mounted crooked. I found a new dealership to take it to that is much closer. We took it there. Thank goodness for the warranty.

We went for the weekend at Petit Park. The fall colors were great. It is now later in the camping season and we are the only ones in the park, which makes for a peaceful setting.
Apples have fallen from a nearby tree and we were able to watch the deer up close when they came out to eat each morning and evening.
For dinner we walked to a nearby Pizza place to pick up a pizza. While we were away, our dog was in a portable fold up kennel inside the RV. This was the first time we left her alone in our RV and we thought the kennel would make her feel secure. Sometime while we were gone, the dog got scared and ripped the door open on the kennel. We figured this must have been due to the noise our water pump makes when it runs, because we noticed we left the switch on. We will need to do something about the noise our pump makes before our next trip. I don’t think we will be using a kennel again; she seems to be more comfortable and secure on her rug.
