This weekend we decided to camp at Foch Lake, which is located near Atlanta, MI. The lake is surrounded by state land. This is primitive camping at it’s best. This happened to be the last place we camped in a tent before we decided that we needed to jump into the world of RVing. We have many fond memories of this place. We just did not have what it took to keep “Tenting”.
We thought it would be great to come back and try to get on the lake again. We gave it a good try, but were only able to back the RV into a small trail which led to a lake-side site just off the main road. We spent the weekend on the lake and had a wonderful time. Because of the difficulty we had maneuvering the unit into the site, we do not think we will be returning to the lake any time soon. We will really miss this location.

Bought a new 3000 watt Honda generator today. This thing is really quiet. I was told that a 2000 watt would work everything except the airconditioning unit. My wife talked me into the 3000 watt model, so we could power everything. She didn’t have to do much convincing.

We stayed at Duke Creek Campground in Cedar Springs, MI for the weekend so that we could attend the Muskegon Air Fair. We did not spend much time at the park itself. We were pretty much only there to spend the night before and after the day we spent at the air show.
The campground was clean and had a small store. It also had a heated pool. The sites were mostly shaded with fire pits and picnic tables. They were available with electric, water and sewer.

Valley Plaza RV Resort is located off of US 10 in Midland, MI. This park offers 77 full hookup sites. Each site offers a patio, grill, picnic table, fire pit, free cable TV and Wi-Fi. This is a very nice park with well lit paved roads and many pull thru sites. It has many shade trees throughout the park. The park includes access to the 3-acre lake with a sandy beach & seasonal water sports.
The resort has an indoor swimming pool, sauna, hot tub, sauna, fitness center with a free weight room and aerobics exercise room. Also available on the grounds are a movie theater, restaurant, bowling, miniature golf, arcade room and billiards room.
This resort has plenty to offer the entire family. You will find more than enough to keep you busy.
If you happen to be in the mood for some of the best Chinese food you have ever tasted, then you must check out Pi’s Chinese Restaurant located nearby. Their “Hunan Sesame Chicken” is one of the best meals on this planet.

Back to the RV dealer. We need to have them switch the hitch from our old Silverado to our new one. Hopefully we are ready to use the new truck now.

Today we bought a brand spankin’ new 2005 2500HD Silverado to pull our new 5th wheel Jay Filght. We checked several dealers and found just what we were looking for. We then called another dealer and got a better price for our trade-in. The dealership could not do anything with the price of the new vehicle since everyone qualifies for the GM employee discount at this time. When we returned to the first dealership they beat the other guys even more. All in all, we ended up saving another $1000.00. Not to bad for just a phone call.
Bad news is that the dealer said that we must break-in the truck before we can pull the trailer. We will be driving it everywhere. Can’t wait until we can get on the road.

This is our first camping trip with our new RV. We have decided to take some advice and stay somewhat close to home. The AuGres City Park, AuGres, MI. is located at the mouth of the AuGres River where it meets the Saginaw Bay. There are many sites located right on the river bank. All sites have water and electric. The park has a sanitation station. It is possible to make reservations or long term stays. There are a few pull thru sites. The park is well maintained.
You can get to a nearby water park by crossing a wooden pedestrian bridge. Next to the water park is a trout fishing pond. We saw some pretty large fish come out of there.
We had a fun weekend and are very glad to have our new RV.

Today we picked up our new Jay Flight. We were so excited! But, that was all to change as we hauled it home. We were quick to discover that our 1/2 ton Silverado was just not enough truck for this trailer. This model says 1/2 ton series on the side but, it still lowered the box to the axle. The tongue weight was just to much. We had no idea how much weight was up front. The model was so new that there were no specs released on it yet. The dealer said they had no idea what the tongue weight was and there were no brochures printed yet. Later we would find out the tongue weight on this unit was over 1400 lbs. In my opinion, the label on the side of this model should not be there. Our excitement took a nose-dive as we parked our new trailer in the driveway and headed out to shop for a new truck.
Heart-Break, Guess we gotta get rid of our little red truck.

Today we purchased a new Jayco Fifth Wheel. It is a Jay Flight Model 27.5 BHS. This trailer was one of only two available in the entire state. It will be available for for us to pick up on the 8th. We can’t wait. We have looked long and hard for a new unit and were pleased when we found out that the 2006 was light enough for us to haul with our 1/2 ton Silverado.
